Texas Intrastate Report
The Texas natural gas marketplace is one of the most important factors in the North America energy market. But getting information on Texas supply, demand, storage and exports can be difficult. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) requires all interstate pipelines to provide this information to the marketplace and this is an important source of data for BENport™. However, intrastate pipelines - those within the borders of a single state (such as Texas) - are not subject to FERC jurisdiction and thus are not required to post their scheduled volumes. In the past this missing data has created a gap in the picture of supply/demand available though the analysis of pipeline gas flows and capacity information.
Our Daily Texas Intrastate Pipeline Report fills a portion of that gap. This report captures all flows leaving the intrastates going to the interstates and all flows entering the intrastates from the interstates. Although the report cannot track production connected to the intrastate system that is consumed within Texas, it does provide key insights into the gas supply/demand balance within the state.
For example, net flows swing almost 2.0 Billion Cubic Feet (BCF) from summer to winter each year. To the extent that flows vary substantially from historical trends, important developments about the Texas gas market are revealed. Our Texas Intrastate Report gives you the ability to spot these developments and to identify which intrastate pipelines are affected.
